About Us
Pet Loss Community was started in 2021 by Veterinarians, Dr. Lisa Lippman and Dr. Tarantino, to be a place where pet parents struggling with loss and grief can find support, encouragement, and a way through their pain. Pet Loss Community was born from a moment of deep listening. During the isolation of the COVID pandemic, Dr. Monica Tarantino and Dr. Lisa Lippman began noticing something heartbreaking: pet parents were grieving alone, with very little support. One Instagram Live conversation about pet loss quickly turned into something much bigger. Pet parents showed up, shared their stories, and made it clear—this kind of space was desperately needed. What started as a simple, compassionate conversation became Pet Loss Community in 2021—a place created by veterinarians who understand both the medical side of pet loss and the emotional weight it carries. From the very beginning, their goal was simple: to make sure no one has to grieve their beloved pet alone. Today, Pet Loss Community is supported by a team of licensed social workers who specialize in pet loss grief. Our facilitators understand that grief impacts the whole person—not just emotions, but daily life, relationships, and sense of self. They also recognize that pet loss grief is often misunderstood, dismissed, or unsupported, leaving many people feeling alone in their pain. We’re here to change that, with empathy, validation, and support that honors the bond you shared.

Our Team
Our pet loss grief support specialist team is made up of Licensed Social Workers who specialize in supporting the people who love and care for animals. We’re passionate about helping normalize pet loss grief—not just because we’re trained in it, but because we’ve lived it. We’re pet parents, too, and we understand how deep this kind of loss can go.
